Laws:
1- Law 102 /1983 For Protected Areas
Law 102 /1983 for Protected areas is an important legislation in the field of nature conservation in Egypt. The law established a legal framework for the creation and management of Protected Areas. According to the law, human activities are to be strictly controlled in the Protected Areas.

2- Law 4 /1994 For Environment
Article 28 states that :"It is forbidden to hunt, kill, or catch the species of wild birds and animals determined in the executive regulations of this Law or to possess, transport, circulate with, sell or offer to sell such birds and animals either dead or alive..."

International Conventions:

  • Ramsar convention - Convention on Wetlands of International Importance Especially as Water Fowl Habitat (RAMSAR)


  • CITIES - Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna (CITIES)


  • Biodiversity - Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD)


  • CMS - Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (Bonn)


  • Barcelona - Convention for the Protection of the Mediterranean Sea Against Pollution (Barcelona)


  • AEWA - Agreement on the Conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbirds


  • RAC/SPA - Regional Activity Center for Specially Protected Areas
