MEDISCO SOLAR COOLING PROJECT

Objective

Mediterranean food and agro Industry applications of Solar Cooling technologies (MEDISCO) is a EC co-funded project. Universities, research organizations and companies from Egypt, France, Germany, Italy, Morocco, Spain and Tunisia participate in the project. The lead partner is the Italian Polytechnic Milano (POLIMI).

The project aims to develop, implement, test and optimize solar thermally driven cooling concepts for the food and agro industry in the Mediterranean region. In order to prove the economical and social sustainability of the technology, two innovative concepts will be fully developed and monitored during the project realization.

The activities include analyzing energy sector in Egypt, focusing in energy balance and structure of energy sector. Besides, the activities include determining the indicators relevant to energy and environment market structure, and the main factors influencing energy and environment policies. The duration of the project is 3 years starting from December 2006.
