Affiliated bodies to Ministry of State for Environmental Affairs managed to remove an oil spill swept away by floods into marine environment in Ras Sidr. MSEA's Central Operations Room received a communication from South Sinai governorate about floods that swept the governorate in Ras Sidr, leading to movement of some crude oils from production areas located there, spread in different parts and reached to the sea.
Immediately MSEA's Suez Regional Branch moved to the reported location to take necessary actions in coordination with Petroleum General Authority and General Petroleum Company operating in the region.
It was obvious that floods have broken shipment line (Assal / Matamear ), which has a diameter of 6 inches leading to the loss of about 300 cubic meters that were remaining after shipment operations , conducted once a day , and swept away by floods into Ras Sidr marine environment . Currently pollution control equipment is spreading along line's land-based sites and inspects the affected tourist beaches to remove pollution and follow-up accident's impacts
