The Environmental Action in Egypt Between Confrontation and Challenge

There are several challenges facing the environmental action in Egypt, which are confronted through pursuing a lot of the untraditional methods to set up the right path on the way of environmental reform to attain the real sustainable development that protects the rights of the coming generations to use their natural resources.

Initiatives are multidimensional as well as chronically in parallel to accomplish confrontation in line with many fronts, starting off from the emphasis President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak attributes to the environment as it is not a luxury but a necessity of life for the Egyptian people to enable them to achieve the maximum benefit from their natural resources.

The following information points out the actual steps that the Ministry has been carrying out to integrate the environmental aspects into the State's policies and national development plans, for the sake of the conservation of the natural resources from consumption or pollution. This can be achieved through the projects the Ministry has directly implemented or in cooperation with other parties, or through outlining and monitoring the environmental indicators and standards concerned with the industrial activities, or through the enforcement of policies and laws concerned with the environment and the improvement of the life of the Egyptian citizens.
